Hi, I’m Sam
I like computers and building things. This is my personal site where I write about projects I’m working on, things I’m learning, and other stuff I find interesting.
I currently work at Machine Learning Architects Basel, a specialised consultancy where we help clients build their “MLOps digital highway”: the technical and organisational foundation for delivering machine learning systems reliably in production. I do a lot of data engineering, MLOps, and infrastructure work, and I also help clients with their data and machine learning strategy and architecture. Of course nowadays we also help our customers develop agentic workflows.
Previously, I worked at Machine Medicine Technologies in London, helping build a platform for capturing and analysing behavioural and neurological data from clinical and remote settings. We used machine learning, computer vision and advanced statistical methods to extract insights from the data. I developed the statistical models and data and ML pipelines, helped with the underlying infrastructure for the platform, and put things in production.
I studied at the University of Innsbruck (BSc) and the University of Edinburgh (MSc and PhD).
In my freetime, apart from spending way too much time of it in front of the computer to tinker, learn and build things, I also enjoy hiking and playing board games with my incredible wife, running, playing beach volleyball and korfball (come join us if you’re in Basel!).
This website doesn’t really have a special goal or specific focus. I just use it to capture and share things I’m working on and learning about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
